Some articles about the health benefits of soy isoflavones in the treatment of menopausal problems
The Miracle Bean (continued)

Research and studies on cancer have also affected Japanese womenThe show “Dateline” presented the hypothesis that the increase of breast cancer in Japanese women who move to the United States could be a result of a reduction in the consumption of soy compared to the country of origin. A number of studies have reported general benefits of DHEA treatment in men and older women. “DHEA in appropriate replacement doses appears to have remedial effects in relation to its ability to induce an anabolic growth factor, increase muscle strength and lean body mass, without significant side effects” (Ann. NY Acad. Sci 1995, 774: 128).
The article of “Dateline” included a discussion with a researcher who suggested many beneficial effects of soy consumption in relation to many diseases. It advances the suggestion that these beneficial and protective effects of soy on breast cancer are the result of increases in DHEA. It is the increase in DHEA that can produce real benefits.

Tofu and other foods from soybean sources (if possible even the ginseng) may help women avoid cancer
San Antonio - According to preliminary research presented at the annual meeting of the American Osteopathic Association

Soybeans, useful element to fight cancer cellsIn a laboratory study of human breast cancer cells, high doses of isoflavones - (dietary components found in from soybean sources foods) - have blocking the growth of cancer cells until 30%, reports Donna Dixon Shanies, medical and assistant professor of biochemistry and genetics at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, N.Y..
In a second laboratory study, Dr. Shanies found that some traditional Chinese remedies such as ginseng inhibited the growth of human tumor cells of breast cancer.
Because they are loaded with phytoestrogens, isoflavones may help prevent breast cancer by reducing levels of natural estrogen in the body, she explained; also, isoflavones may have antioxidant properties that inhibit the growth of tumors.
