Serotonin existing in animal tissues, in various plants and fruitsSerotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) is a physiological substan-
ce, more exactly, a monoamine neurotransmitter, existing in animal tissues, in various plants and fruits and also in microorga-
The most significant concentrations of serotonin are found in blood, and chromaffin nucleus of small intestine, in some regions of the brain, particularly in the hypothalamus. Large quantities are present even in the venoms of wasps and scorpions.

The synthesizing of serotonin is similar to that of noradrenaline, with the diversity that the amino acid tryptophan is the precursor, rather than tyrosine.
The physiological function of serotonin is quite complex and not yet fully explained. It is known that this substance establishes the contraction of smooth muscles of blood vessels, intestine, bladder and uterus; adjusts the intestinal automatism, changes blood pressure noticeably: intervening developments in allergic and inflammatory, moderates the period of bleeding operating on the process of blood clots and is connected to the occurrence of migraine headaches.

Other neuropsychiatric disorders in which serotonin is involved (in addition to PE or anticipated) are: bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression.
The serotonin affects sleep-wake, sexuality, appetite, humor and not onlyAn important function of serotonin is explicated in the mechanisms of sleep-wake cycle, sexuality, humor and appetite, control of body temperature and in some central activity determinants the emotional attitudes and emotions.

The Tryptophan is an amino acid slightly polar, participating in the majority of protein content. Its metabolism is inserted into the processes of considerable physiological and biochemical importance. Since it is a fundamental constitu-
ent, go assimilated through food. Since the body is unable to synthesize it, the lack of tryptophan in the nutrition leads to insufficiency of nicotiammide.

Tryptophan is the precursor of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptami-
ne, 5-HT brain monoamine transmitter synthesized in serotonergic neurons in the central nervous system) and melatonin (a hormone produced by the pineal gland or pituitary gland with the task of regulating the sleep-wake cycle). In addition, the Tryptophan also acts as a controlling element in the biological synthesis of glutamine.
To expand this capacity for the assay of serotonin, is evaluated as a good natural antidepressant for use alone or with other medicines. The sedative result establishes that increase serotonin and melatonin, determines the effective use of tryptophan for mild insomnia.
