Propolis - Pag. 5

Propolis: natural ingredient of Zetastop

Vasoprotective activity

Propolis: natural ingredient of ZetastopPropolis has capillary protective action which acts on the fragility and permeability of the capillaries, increasing resistance and decreasing its permeability.
This activity is due to the flavonoid fraction (called factor P): quercetin, rutin, apigenin etc., which have anti-platelet activity of cell and improve microcirculation. This action is enhanced by vitamin C.

Antioxidant activity

Has a protective effect against damage caused by free radicals, thanks to flavonoids, vitamin E, the CAPE (ac.caffeico feniletilestere). The flavonoids react with free radicals, preventing the alteration of membrane phospholipids and protecting unsaturated fatty acids by blocking the peroxidase. These antioxidant properties could be used both in medicine and as a preservative in oils, butters and fat in cosmetic field and food.

Anti-inflammatory activity

It is comparable with prednisolone and aspirin (the common Aspirin). Caffeic acid and its esters, in particular the CAPE, flavonoids (quercetin, galangina), terpenes, cinnamic acid content in propolis, have inhibitory effects on eicosanoid production during inflammation, modulating the release of inflammatory mediators.
Propolis has anti complement, inhibits lipo-oxygenase to events inflammation, decreasing the release of prostaglandins and leukotrienes by macrophages. Propolis is an excellent anti-inflammatory product for us by the pharmacy of the bees!

Anti tooth decay

Flavonoids have antimicrobial activity towards Streptococcus mutans (but also sobrinus, cricetus) and inhibit the activity of glucosyl trasferasiche which is the main cause of tooth decay in humans, all this allows to the propolis to be considered anti cariogenic, in addition is also used in various dental problems, including periodontitis, pyorrhea, abscesses, lesions of dental pulp.

Anti gastritis and antiulcer action

Propolis: anti gastritis and antiulcer actionThis feature is due to flavonoids, which perform three actions: antisecretory action at the gastric level by blocking the synthesis of histamine, by decreasing the hydrochloric acid present in the stomach; an antispasmodic action and antibacterial activity against Helicobacter pylori, accused of being responsible or aggravate ulcer, these properties are due primarily to galangina and chrysin.

Furthermore propolis also has local anesthetic action that could contribute to the reduction of pain. Interesting is a research conducted in the hospital of Klosterneburg by Professor Feiks; he divided into two groups his patients with to the stomach ulcer and duodenum, to a group administered the traditional therapy of drugs, to the other has also added the propolis tincture. After two weeks, 90% of patients treated with propolis had no complaints, compared to 55% of patients treated with traditional therapy. Feiks has also taken care of with the sole propolis tincture 15 patients with ulcer healing fourteen.

Hepatoprotective action

The flavonoids in propolis also have a protective activity on the liver, they protect liver cells, decreasing their degeneration in case of chronic abuse of alcohol and other degenerative factors.
